Everyone at Moisty Skate Park was ripped a new A-hole after the extreme sonic devastation brought by The Absence, along with Tavú, Death Arrangement and Blood Rapture!
The night kicked off with some seriously heavy riffage from Tavú. Owning the stage with a mix of fan favorite classics as well as some brand new material from their upcoming album, Tavú demonstrated exactly why they have been one of the dominant bands in the local metal scene for well over 15 years.
Up next was a band that is WAY too metal for you! Death Arrangement slaughtered the audience with their fast riffs, thundering drums and powerful guttural screams from front-woman Mrs. Legion (Editor’s note: You BETTER not be serious about retiring soon!). As prophesy stated in the days before man, a death was certainly arranged with their brutal sounds.
Straight after, Blood Rapture slayed the audience with their brutal death metal sounds. This brutal quartet definitely brought their A-Game to this event, proving that Swedish death metal definitely deserves more recognition in our local scene.
Then came what we were all waiting for. The main event. The Absence.
This vicious quintet, composed of members Jamie Stewart (Vocals), Peter Joseph (Guitar), Jeramie Kling (Drums), Patrick Pintavalle (Guitar) and Mike Leon (Bass) came straight from Tampa, Florida to rock our socks off. Playing only the best material from all their albums, including hit single “From Your Grave”, The Absence completely dominated the crowd who stood mere inches from the band. After a mind-blowing set, they finished off with their encore, covering Testament’s ” Into the Pit”.
Needless to say, it was an amazing night featuring some of the best bands in Puerto Rico and, of course, Tampa’s own, The Absence. We really look forward to seeing more shows of this magnitude and quality, something few in the island have been able to produce as well as Black Stone Productions has.
