Originating as a simple wish to help a friend in need, Rocking For Chela became so much more. On a warm, Sunday afternoon, hundreds of local rockers united in the name of Mariceli Acevedo Pomales, or Chela, as she is affectionately known by most, in an effort to not only raise funds for her cancer treatment, but as an act of love to demonstrate we are all united to wish her a full recovery.
Of course, CYANIDE NATION was there to lend a hand. Our own Mako and Krystal Umi were creating art live. Krystal also painted on Queensryche’s (Chela’s favorite band) logo on whoever asked. She pulled a triple shift as she also painted Nikki Red and Alice P. Knight LIVE at the event. We also had an assist by Tampu Nyauri in the photography department.
Needless to say, it was an amazing day. It was a LONG day, but it was totally worth it. We’d all like to thank Isa for allowing to participate, as well as all of those who lent a hand, time, money and donations (I’m looking at YOU, Su!) to make this event happen. We’re glad we could lend a hand, and look forward to doing it again, sometime soon. Perhaps we can Rock For Chela Again?
