Fitting In (2012)
James receives a distress call from the girl of his dreams, Lilah, at 2AM asking him to pick her up at a remote location. But what danger could she be in to cause her such distress?
Lusca Fantastic Film Festival is drawing near, where our latest short film, Legión Inherente, will be showing. In honor of that, I’ve decided to release all our other short films to the public. These will be released one at a time, until the festival starts. I’ll be adding a bit of behind the scenes stories with each one, so you can know a bit about the creative process and how the film came to be.
Now, without further ado, we talk a bit about our second short film, FITTING IN.
Back in the day, Cinemovida used to host their film challenges fairly frequently. In 2012 they held the second edition of their horror themed challenge, Morbo Fest. As I had already participated the previous year with a team I helped, I was familiar with the rules and I had a nearly finished script I thought I could adapt to fit their challenge rules.
I was wrong.
Nevertheless, I had a production team and a cast ready to go, so we decided to film it anyway. It was filmed in two nights in a semi-remote house in the country side of Guaynabo. In order to make the relatively small location appear much bigger, we simply used some creative angles and shot at different sections of all for main walls outside the house. The bedroom and basement scenes were the upstairs and downstairs of the same house.
In the end, we had a pretty awesome time filming this film, even if we didn’t end up submitting it to Morbo Fest. However, we eventually submitted it to the 2013 edition of the Puerto Rico Horror Film Fest (now Lusca) and got accepted as an official selection!
And as for that edition of Morbo Fest? We did end up participating… in a way. But that’s a story for tomorrow!
